Sometimes the smallest visitors make us stop and look
Our garden is a place where we spend a lot of time, and it has naturally become one of my favorite places to photograph. I may head outside intending to capture the flowers and plants, but I inevitably find myself following the birds, bees, butterflies, and other pollinators that bring the garden to life.
On this day, it was the contrast that caught my attention—a brilliant orange butterfly resting against the simplicity of a white flower. It was a small, fleeting moment, but exactly the kind I love to capture.
From Photograph to Art
The original photograph was all about that beautiful contrast of orange against white. When I reimagined the image, I wanted the butterfly and flower to remain recognizable while allowing the surrounding garden to become more expressive.
Painterly color and movement transform the background, while the orange butterfly and luminous white flower remain at the center—a little moment of stillness surrounded by the energy of the garden.
