Orchid in Light
Light, graceful structure, and rich purple turn an orchid into an expressive botanical portrait.
Sometimes you don’t have to go far to get away.
A quiet morning on Lake Allatoona transformed into an expressive study of stillness, reflection, and the restorative feeling of being on the water.

The Original Moment
Orchid in Light began with an orchid I photographed at a botanical garden while celebrating my anniversary with my husband. The flower’s luminous petals and graceful structure made the moment feel especially worth holding onto.
From Photograph to Art
In the finished artwork, I emphasized the orchid’s light, sculptural form and the contrast between soft white and richer purple. The bold painterly treatment gives the classic botanical subject a more expressive, contemporary presence.
