Blue in Bloom

Botanical Garden

Cool color, layered petals, and a bloom full of movement.

Sometimes you don’t have to go far to get away.

A quiet morning on Lake Allatoona transformed into an expressive study of stillness, reflection, and the restorative feeling of being on the water.

The Original Moment

Blue in Bloom began with the simple structure of a garden flower—the layered petals, shifting light, and cool color that made the bloom stand out. What interested me most was how the blues and greens seemed to change across the flower as the light moved through it.

From Photograph to Art

In the finished artwork, I pushed the flower beyond a literal botanical study and let color and movement become part of the subject. Deep blue, teal, turquoise, cream, and green move across the petals while the bloom remains recognizable. The result is a modern floral piece that feels lively without losing the quiet beauty of the original flower.
