Summer in Orange
Some flowers seem to hold the whole season in their color.
Sometimes you don’t have to go far to get away.
A quiet morning on Lake Allatoona transformed into an expressive study of stillness, reflection, and the restorative feeling of being on the water.

The Original Moment
Summer in Orange began in the garden, where daylilies bring an almost effortless burst of color each year. The brilliant orange bloom caught the light in a way that made it impossible to ignore. I photographed it for the same reason I photograph so much in the garden: the ordinary can become extraordinary when the light, color, and timing come together.

From Photograph to Art
The transformation builds on the warmth already present in the flower. I kept the recognizable structure of the daylily while allowing color and texture to become more expressive around it. The finished piece feels like summer concentrated into a single bloom—bright, warm, and full of life.
